Iran's Mahmud Ahmadinejad has arrived in Brazil today on the first state visit by an Iranian president to the Latin American nation. Ahmadinejad is to hold talks with President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, who himself is scheduled to visit Tehran in early 2010. Iranian president begins Brazil visit According to the Iranian embassy, Ahmadinejad's one-day visit will include the signing of bilateral trade deals, a visit to Congress, a press conference, and a speech at a university. On November 22, more than 1,000 people gathered in Rio de Janeiro to protest the visit of Ahmadinejad, who has called for Israel to be wiped off the map and has denied the Holocaust. Ahmadinejad will also visit Bolivia and Venezuela in coming days.
