Belgrade airport greets Serbian champions with special honor

The team, nicknamed "Little Eagles", were greeted by Serbian Football Association President Tomislav Karadzic and his deputy Ivan Curkovic, as well as their families, friends, and fans.

They returned home after spending almost 20 days in New Zealand, where they on Saturday beat Brazil in the final FIFA U-20 World Cup game to bring the first title of the kind to their country.

In a statement for B92, Nemanja Maksimovic, who clinched the 2-1 victory, said he hoped the squad would not lose their team spirit once they start playing for the senior team, while captain Predrag Rajkovic stressed it was a sense of unity that enabled the team to win the championship.

The team will hold a press conference at noon on Monday in Stara Pazova. They will head for Belgrade in an open bus at 18:30 CET.
