60% of respondents say they participate in corruption

Beta is reporting that corruption is the third biggest problem Serbian citizens face, after unemployment and poverty, the survey, carried out in December on a sample of 600 respondents, has shown.

The average amount of one bribe is increasing and was EUR 250 in December. Only two percent of those interviewed expect the level of corruption to decline in the next 12 months, while 64 percent believe the government is being effective in its efforts to curb corruption in the country, according to the survey.

CeSID had the support of the UN Development Program (UNDP) while carrying out the poll, Beta reported, and noted that Health Minister Slavica Đukić-Dejanović estimated that the citizens' perception of corruption in the health sector was "greater than what really is the case."
