Protesting farmers unblock some roads

The old and the new road from Pancevo to Belgrade and the Old bridge over the Tamis River are open for the traffic on Wednesday evening, it has been reported. A group of farmers with around 60 tractors gathered near the Pancevo Refinery near Starcevo earlier in the day in order to prevent passage of vehicles to Pancevo and several other municipalities in southern Banat. Protesting farmers unblock some roads Tanjug reported that the line toward Starcevo has been unblocked and that car traffic has been gradually normalized. The Interior Ministry told Tanjug that farmers, dissatisfied with the new mode of distribution of subsidies per yield instead of hectare blocked regional and local roads in Vojvodina and central Serbia on Wednesday around 3 p.m. by means of around 1,000 tractors but main roads in Serbia are open. Tanjug reported that the line toward Starčevo has been unblocked and that car traffic has been gradually normalized.

The Interior Ministry told Tanjug that farmers, dissatisfied with the new mode of distribution of subsidies per yield instead of hectare blocked regional and local roads in Vojvodina and central Serbia on Wednesday around 3 p.m. by means of around 1,000 tractors but main roads in Serbia are open.

Deputy Chief of the Traffic Police Department in the Serbian Interior Ministry Branko Pantović stated that the blockade of the road from Pančevo to Vršac and Bela Crkva has been terminated in the afternoon.
