"On a number of occasions people wanted to name stadiums and fields after me due to my brilliant career, but I refused. Now, I decided to accept the offer. This is the second pitch in the world which carries my name. The first one is in Clairefontaine (France) in our football center," Platini said at a ceremony in Stara Pazova. Platini attended the opening of the Serbian House of Football in May last year. "Some time ago, we opened this fantastic center, and today it is my great honor and pleasure to be back to open an open pitch bearing my name," Platini said. FSS President Karadzic expressed satisfaction over a new meeting with Platini at the House of Football. “The relations between FSS and UEFA are on the highest possible level, and this center is another success in a row yielded by the cooperation. It is logical to name the pitch after Platini in recognition of his great career and outstanding UEFA chair,” Karadzic said. Karadzic added that the remaining terrains will also be named after football legends. “We want children to grow on these pitches, and become as successful as Michel Platini or even more,” Karadzic said.
