Power supply in Kosovo has deteriorated with a failure of a power plant yesterday, reports say. The Kosovo energy corporation announced that one of the blocks of Power Plant Kosovo has been shut down last night. The repairs that are underway are expected to last until this evening. Electricity crisis in Kosovo gets worse The shutdown has led to a near collapse of the already poor power supply system in the province. That whole territory is now supplied with some 270 megawatts from the second block of Kosovo B, which covers one third of the daily demand. As a consequence, power cuts already in place have become more rigorous, with those who pay their bills the least now being left without electricity for longest periods of time, up to five hours. 50 megawatts were also imported from Albania yesterday, it was announced, while one of the Kosovo A blocks is expected to join production today, with the capacity of 130 megawatts. Officials in Pristina announced that they expect the situation to improve within 48 hours.
