The Norwegian Defense Secretary wants to take a team of Serb doctors to help in the Afghanistan mission. Espen Barth Eide hopes that the Serbian military will send a team of physicians, as a part of the Norwegian military contingent, to participate in the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan. Serb doctors called on to help in Afghanistan “We hope that, with Serbia’s help, we could compensate for the lack of military physicians in our contingent within the ISAF peace mission in Afghanistan that is being conducted under a UN mandate and NATO’s command,” Eide told the Euro-Atlantic Review. He said that Serb military doctors were very highly respected in the world, and that Serbia and Norway had been discussing increased cooperation in the field of military medicine. Eide said that bilateral relations between the two countries were excellent, and that the presence of Serb doctors in this mission would take cooperation to an even greater level. Eide reiterated that his country had donated a field hospital to the Serbian military because Serbia was well known for excelling in the field and having expert knowledge in military medicine at the highest international levels.
