A rights group will file a criminal complaint against Marko Jaksic, a lawmaker and member of Serbia's Kosovo team. The Center for Minority Rights said Thursday it will react to yesterday's offensive remarks about the Roma, that came first during a Kosovo Board meeting, and then in a parliament session. Jaksic to face lawsuit over offensive remarks Jaksic (DSS) said a rival MP, Vladan Batic of the Demo-Christians (DHSS), had "a Gypsy character and mentality." "His statement not only sidesteps the basic principles of political culture, but also works to deepen existing prejudice and animosity toward the Roma population," the NGO said in a statement. Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica's party, the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), has distanced itself from Jaksic's statements. The Kosovo-based MP was also issued a reprimand by the parliament, but will apparently suffer no other consequences for his scandalous behavior.
