Shooting rampage leaves nine dead

“He did not resist the arrest, so we managed to take him into custody without any problems. He was injured but his condition was not life threatening,” Milović said.

The police issued a statement regarding the tragedy that says all nine victims were random passers-by walking down the street when Radosavljević opened fire.

B92 has learned that four women and five men have been killed. The police thus far have not revealed the identities of the victims.

After a failed suicide attempt, Radosavljević was transferred to the Niš hospital under police escort.

“The wounds were not fatal, and he is expected to make a quick recovery,” police said.

The rampage occurred in the village of Jabukovac near the town of Negotin, close to the eastern border with Romania, Friday afternoon, when Radosavljević, reportedly after having had a row with his wife, went on a shooting rampage killing nine persons, and wounding two.

After hours of search, police tracked him down at a cemetery near the village and placed him under custody.

Regular police forces along with members the special anti-terrorist unit (SAJ) and Gendarmerie took part in the search.

Interior Minister Dragan Jočić said late Friday that two police helicopters were also engaged in the operation.

Locals said that Radosavljević spent most of his life working abroad, and that he was known for his aggressive behavior.
