Blood feud suspected in murder of Macedonian official

The Macedonian police have arrested a suspect for the murder of Deputy Director of Macedonian Public Revenue Office Argetim Asani.

Blood feud suspected in murder of Macedonian official

Asani was an official of the ethnic Albanian DUI party, that is a member of Macedonia's ruling coalition.

He was shot and killed on Saturday afternoon in front of the Drim Hotel in Struga. A total of 14 bullets were fired at Asani from a moving car. He died on the way to the hospital.

The police searched A.K.'s home after the shooting and found a Golf car, believed to have been used during the incident, parked in the yard - and a pistol with an empty magazine in the trunk. The police suspect that the pistol was the murder weapon.

Local Albanian language media are reporting that Asani's death was part of a blood feud.

Two days earlier, a DUI party member was shot and killed in Kumanovo. Head of the party's local branch in this own Bajram Limani later turned himself in to the police and is a suspect in the case.
