BELGRADE President of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia Sonja Biserko has confirmed that she will be Croatia's witness before the ICJ. She will be a witness in Croatia's genocide lawsuit against Serbia before the Hague-based court. Serbia has also filed its own genocide lawsuit against Croatia. NGO head confirms she'll testify against Serbia "Croatia has called me to testify in a possible genocide trial, which it will conduct against Serbia. In that, I do not see anything controversial," Biserko told the Belgrade weekly Vreme, and added: "The withdrawal of the lawsuits would signify the maturity of our politicians and societies and a step towards establishing serious regional cooperation, because this way we are still looking at each other down the barrel of a gun". Beta reported that according to Biserko,"the state's position is ambiguous regarding the majority of citizens who have been called over the past few years, to testify in proceedings against Serbian officials before any international court." Biserko further said she believed that the information about her testifying as Croatia's witness had been disclosed by someone from the Serbian legal team, which she described as "an evidently calculated move aimed at exerting more pressure on me, and harassing and intimidating me".
