Suspected war criminal remains in custody According to the ruling, Purda will stay in the extradition custody in Bosnia until the court rules on the extradition request issued by Serbia which charges Purda with war crimes committed in Vukovar, Croatia, in 1999. Serbia's legal authorities delivered to Bosnia a request for prolongation of Purda's custody to the maximum of 40 days on January 20, while on the next day they delivered to Sarajevo all additional documentation needed for his extradition. The Croatian authorities stated that based on witnesses' statements there is not enough evidence for institution of a legal proceeding against Purda or a request for his extradition to Croatia. Purda was arrested on the Zupanja-Orasje border crossing on January 5 upon an international warrant, and was imposed a custody of 18 days.
