Former Bosnian army officer arrested
4 November 2009 | 19:15 | Source: Beta
SARAJEVO -- Former deputy commander of a special unit of the Bosnia-Herzegovina army has been arrested under suspicion that he committed war crimes during the war.

Nihad Bojadžić, 47, deputy commander of a unit dubbed "Zulfikar", was arrested in Sarajevo, and is suspected of murdering over 20 people in Trusina, near Konjic, during 1993, the Bosnian prosecution stated.

“During the attack, 19 civilians and three soldiers of the Croatian Defense Council [Hrvatsko Vijeće Obrane, HVO] were killed, though they surrendered earlier, while four were wounded, two of which were children,” prosecution spokesman Boris Grubešić said.

Bojadžić's unit, along with the Bosnian army’s 45th Hill Brigade Neretvica attacked the village of Trusina on April 16, 1993.

Four other members of the Zulfikar unit and Neretvica brigade have been arrested this year under the suspicion of having committing war crimes in the village.

Bosnian Muslims (Bosniaks) Nedžad Hodžić, Mensur Memić, Dževad Salcin and Senad Hakalović are currently in custody for crimes related to the attack.
