Highways jammed throughout Croatia

There are long waits and traffic jams on Croatia’s highways because of the many European tourists heading to the Adriatic coast for holiday.

There are long waits and traffic jams on Croatia’s highways because of the many European tourists heading to the Adriatic coast for holiday. There are lines of cars stretching up to 20 kilometers in some places. Highways jammed throughout Croatia On Saturday, there was a stretch of cars at a toll booth near Zagreb at the beginning of the A1 highway towards the coast which was 18 kilometers long and reached 25 kilometers in the early afternoon hours. The waits and traffic jams are occurring at border crossings in Gorican, Bregana, Rupa, Macelj, Pasjak and Plovanija coming from Slovenia, with slightly smaller problems reported from the direction of Hungary. In the late afternoon hours, the situation is the same going in the other direction, with tourists leaving the coast and heading home. The lines of cars are large in the evening as well at the tolls for exiting the A1 highway and going towards Zagreb and eventually leaving the country, but they are not as extreme late at night. Croatian Roads and Interior Ministry officials stated on Saturday that the number of travelers would slightly decrees at night, but would pick up once again in the morning.
