Highways jammed throughout Croatia

There are long waits and traffic jams on Croatia’s highways because of the many European tourists heading to the Adriatic coast for holiday.

The waiting line on main Hungarian/Serbian crossing was several hours yesterday.

Most "incoming" cars had Italian license plates ( = Kosovo-Albanians). Most "leaving" cars had German license plates ( = Yugoslavians, mixed).

Probably reflects the school and work schedule. Few cars with Slovak and Polish plates. All cars with Hungarian and Serbian plates were re-directed to "small border traffic" crossings.

That did not help much. Waiting 2-3 hours to cross the border at Horgos/Röszke was the minimum. Have no idea, why. Serbs did work pretty fast (less, than 2 minutes). Hungarians did work more slow, but at least for us it was about 5 minutes.

Some cars before us took half an hour to cross, have no idea why.

The price of lost time, gasoline and environmental damage is difficult to assess.

But now I am sure, everyone, who wanted to blow up the Djavolja Varos or Balaton Lake is being caught.

Reading the news, I am glad we did chose Fruska Gora monasteries over basilica in Porec to visit.

20km?, how about three lanes on each side and I'll call that smart investing. Once in EU expect that to worsen for sure unless you do something about it.
