Italy supports the EU integration of Montenegro and the whole Western Balkans, the Montenegrin PM was told in Rome. “Our wish is for Montenegro to continue its path towards the EU, and for Montenegrin citizens’ standard of living to improve still further. That good work is being accomplished in this area is evidenced by the very high rise of economic indicators in Montenegro,“ said Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. "Italy supports Montenegro's EU path" According to Podgorica media, Berlusconi said that Italy supported Montenegro and its policy of good relations with the other Balkan states. “Events in the Balkans interest us greatly, and we’ve undertaken obligations to support the European path of Montenegro and the whole region, and we’ll endeavor to help its definitive realization as soon as possible,“ pledged the Italian prime minister. Milo Djukanovic said that he was very optimistic following his meeting with Berlusconi. “I think that it definitely opens a new, much richer page in contemporary relations between Italy and Montenegro,“ said Djukanovic. He suggested to his Italian partners taking part in a “very interesting project“—namely, the privatization of Montenegrin Railways. It was also stated that Berlusconi would soon be visiting Montenegro. Besides announcements of visits by Italian businessmen and ministers to Montenegro, it was also stated that the Montenegrin parliamentary speaker and economic development minister would be visiting Italy. According to Podgorica media, Berlusconi said that Italy supported Montenegro and its policy of good relations with the other Balkan states.

“Events in the Balkans interest us greatly, and we’ve undertaken obligations to support the European path of Montenegro and the whole region, and we’ll endeavor to help its definitive realization as soon as possible,“ pledged the Italian prime minister.

Milo Đukanović said that he was very optimistic following his meeting with Berlusconi.

“I think that it definitely opens a new, much richer page in contemporary relations between Italy and Montenegro,“ said Đukanović.

He suggested to his Italian partners taking part in a “very interesting project“—namely, the privatization of Montenegrin Railways.

It was also stated that Berlusconi would soon be visiting Montenegro.
