An investigation into EFT Group's business in Bosnia has officially closed, the company says. After more than four years, Britain's Serious Fraud Office decided to close the case without pressing criminal charges. British probe into EFT Balkan operations closes EFT, a European energy trading and investment group, was first investigated by Bosnia-Herzegovina's international prosecutor Jonathan Rattel. This investigation also ended with the dropping of the case in April 2006. The allegations against the company, which included corruption and bribery aimed at exploiting the country by bribing its way to power deals, were first leveled by former High Representative Paddy Ashdown. EFT, which now expects its CEO Vuk Hamovic to also be cleared in the case, says that Ashdown, "as a diplomat protected by his immunity, will not face the consequences for the financial and reputation damages incurred by his false accusations". The company also accused Ashdown of making the allegations "in order to score political points".
