Around 40 percent of the Montenegrin population use the Internet, according to a report on the website, Internet World.

Around 40 percent of the Montenegrin population use the Internet, according to a report on the website, Internet World. The level of internet usage in Montenegro is very close to the average of 52 European countries, which in September was 41.7 percent. Montenegro logs on to internet However, the new report notes that only 25,800 of Montenegro’s 266,000 internet surfers have broadband access. Jovanka Radovic from the Montenegrin telecommunication company T-com said that their figures were significantly lower than those of Internet World. “According our statistics, some 180,000 people, which is 27-28 per cent of the Montenegrin population, use the internet”, Radovic told Balkan Insight. She added that this was still a substantial number. “Today, using the internet is an everyday activity, and we are happy that Montenegrins are becoming aware of that”, Radovic stated. The latest statistics from Internet World relate to data that was up-to-date in September. According to the statistics, elsewhere in the region one in three use the internet in Croatia and one in five in Bosnia. Internet penetration in Albania, at the end of August was 15.3 percent, and in Serbia in December 2006, the last period for which figures were available, it was 13.9 percent.
