Serbia-Madagascar ties "traditionally good and friendly"

Recalling that these relations date back to Madagascar’s proclamation of independence in 1960, the two officials agreed that it is necessary to intensify activities towards continuous political dialogue, the Serbian government said.

It was concluded that the common interest is the establishment and strengthening of all aspects of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic sphere.

Dacic "expressed gratitude for the support of Madagascar to foreign policy priorities of Serbia and expressed hope that that will continue in the future."

Rakotomamonjy "underlined that the peoples of Serbia and Madagascar have brotherly ties, and share the same values since the times when the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia had a leading role in the Non-Aligned Movement and when it was helping liberation movements of African countries."

The Republic of Madagascar condemns terrorism and the desecration of the Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo and Metohija in the strongest terms as a crime against humanity, Rakotomamonjy said earlier in the day after his meeting with Serbian National Assembly President Maja Gojkovic.
