"Not much will change for Serbia because of Brexit"

Britain leaving the EU will not change much when it comes to Serbia's accession to the bloc, German Ambassador Axel Dittmann said on Monday.

"Not much will change for Serbia because of Brexit"

Not much will change there and the processes will continue, Dittmann said.

Germany is a fair and dependable partner that supports Serbia's EU path, he said.

Progress in reforms and improving the business climate for foreign investors in Serbia, as well as for local companies, is the most important, said Dittmann, adding that Germany would back Serbia in the reform process.

For the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, nothing has changed in the wake of the Brexit, Chamber President Ronald Seeliger said.

Of course it is a pity that the European market is potentially shrinking, but we can still conduct trade with the UK, he said.

The Chamber recommended improvements in the investment climate in terms of the rule of law, the fight against corruption and Chapters 23 and 24 in Serbia's EU accession talks.
