EU calls "two urgent" Kosovo dialogue meetings

The agency is quoting Albanian language daily Gazeta Tribuna that reported the meetings would focus on ARD certificates for transport of hazardous materials and also Pristina's announcements that all citizens with ID cards issued by the so-called "parallel structures" would be banned from entering Kosovo.

Soon after, the Serbian Government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija issued a statement saying Director Marko Djuric would on Tuesday lead the Belgrade delegation within the framework of expert-level dialogue with Pristina.

As the office stated, the talks will be held at the headquarters of the European External Action Service. Among the topics will be the issue of use of ID cards issued by Police Administrations (PUs) of the Republic of Serbia dislocated from the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, and the application of the agreement on official visits.

Traffic was taking place without disruption on the Jarinje crossing on the administrative line between northern Kosovo and central Serbia on Monday morning, with passengers arriving from central Serbia reporting no problems during personal documents checks.

Head of the Pristina negotiating team in the talks with Belgrade Edita Tahiri said earlier that persons carrying ID cards issued in Serbia "would not be able to cross."

The mayors from northern Kosovo reacted to this as "an unambiguous threat of violence" and warned that if such a decision were to be implemented, the crossings would be blocked in protest.

Serbs in northern Kosovo on Monday blocked Jarinje for an hour, as a warning they would not stop using their Serbian ID cards.
