BELGRADE Opposition Democratic Party (DS) leader Dragan Djilas has said that PM Ivica Dacic no longer has legitimacy after the Saric scandal and that he should step down. “He should step down and once the investigation is over, and there is no reason for it not to be efficient and quick because recordings and transcripts of the talks are in the competent organs’ hands, and if everything is clear, let him be reelected as the PM if they want,” he said. Prime minister, government “have no legitimacy” “The Serbian government and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic have no legitimacy until investigations into controversial meetings between the Serbian PM and members of (drug lord Darko) Saric’s drug cartel are finished,” the DS leader pointed out. He noted that elections were the only democratic solution and assessed that they would take place soon. “It is another thing that it suits the West right now to have the government that will do absolutely anything they ask regarding Kosovo,” Djilas said. Commenting on a meeting between Serbian and Kosovo Presidents Tomislav Nikolic and Atifete Jahjaga, he said that it was good that they were talking and easing tensions but stressed that it was clear that the meeting would not contribute to regional reconciliation. “We are not interested in whom Toma is talking to, we are interested in a result of the talks. There will always be support for the continuation of the dialogue and finding of a solution that will be acceptable for both sides, that will help secure a better life for Serbs in Kosovo, preserve Serbia’s integrity and at the same time continue the EU pathway. I am just afraid that nobody will remember the meeting between Nikolic and Jahjaga in five days,” the DS leader stressed. He announced that the DS Executive Board would on February 14 decide on possible expulsion of MP Vuk Jeremic from the party for failing to respect a Main Board's decision to return his MP mandate.
