PM Mirko Cvetkovic says it is a realistic possibility that Serbia will be granted candidate status for EU membership by the end of the year, Beta reports. He also expects a date for the start of membership talks to be given in 2011. Cvetkovic said that answering the European Commission Questionnaire would not be a large problem for Serbia and that it would all be completed by the deadline. A much greater job is the implementation of reforms in line with recommendations given by the European Commission, which should make it possible for Serbia to gain candidate status, as well as a date for talks, in 2011, said the prime minister.
