Trade Minister Slobodan Milosavljevic says the inflation in Serbia will be lower in 2011, compared to last year. He believes that this will mean somewhat better purchasing power for consumers. Trade minister sees lower inflation The minister noted that the projected inflation figure stood at between six and eight percent for this year, and that this goal will be fulfilled "considering the measures undertaken by the National Bank of Serbia and the Ministry of Finance". Milosavljevic also expects more good news from the industrial production front, building on the four percent growth achieved in 2010. "I expect the GDP growth to reach some three percent in 2011," said he. Milosavljevic described last year as a year where Serbia's economy fought a battle to survive and achieve modest recovery compared to 2009, while he said the average Serbian "fought the battle for daily survival". "I'm an optimist, although I don't think now's the right time to make promises related to 2011," Milosavljevic was quoted as saying this Sunday. "It's not the right time for promises, but it is for feelings about what it is that is happening around us." The minister concluded by saying that 2011 "should be a little better due to a little increase in salaries", but "only if the inflation remains within six to seven percent".
