Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia and Biljana Kovacevic-Vuco Foundation called upon Serbs today to vote in parliamentary elections in Kosovo. Representatives of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia launched a campaign yesterday in order to encourage Kosovo Serbs to vote in the elections on December 12. NGOs call on K. Serbs to vote in elections They are planning on visiting northern Kosovo next week. Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia Executive Director Ivan Kuzminovic told a news conference in Caglavica today that Kosovo Serbs could and should vote in the upcoming elections in Kosovo without fear of any kind of negative reaction of the Belgrade authorities. He said that the existing laws in Serbia guaranteed Kosovo Serbs that they would not lose social welfare from Belgrade if they decided to go to the polls. Director of Biljana Kovacevic-Vuco Foundation Dusan Bogdanovic thinks that Kosovo is advancing toward full political maturity. He claims that experience of Serbs, who stayed in the former Yugoslav republics after the conflict, shows that Belgrade authorities often did more harm than good when they relied on them.
