The questionnaire that the European Commission (EC) sent to Serbia does not cover the issue of Kosovo, but several questions touch on the topic. Tanjug reports that one of them is the role of the police and the military in securing the administrative boundary with Kosovo. EC questions related to Kosovo The EC also asked Serbia to provide an overview of its relations with Kosovo and the efforts being made to ensure effective cooperation on EU related matters and inclusive regional cooperation. In the questions related to visa policy, Serbia was asked to outline the procedure for issuing biometric passports to residents of Kosovo, and the measures taken to prevent fraud and corruption. Serbia was also asked to give a detailed description of the situation at the administrative boundary with Kosovo, as well as the cooperation with EULEX. Questions on foreign, security and defense policy are related to the political dialogue between Serbia and the countries in the Western Balkans region, Kosovo included. When it comes to the economy, the EC inquired about the VAT regime applied to goods transferred from Serbia to Kosovo and vice versa, the exportation/importation duties and travel allowances, and the excise regime applied to these goods. Another question covers trade with the countries in the region, including Kosovo. The questionnaire also asks whether Serbia's customs legislation establishes any particular rules in relation to trade with Kosovo, what customs formalities apply to goods transferred from Kosovo, if any duties or fees are applied, and if there are special rules regarding rules of origin. The introductory remarks of the questionnaire, which has been posted on the official website of the Serbian government, note that under UN Security Council Resolution 1244, Kosovo is not covered by the questionnaire.
