Slovenia supports Serbia's European path

President of the National Assembly of Slovenia Pavel Gantar stated that Slovenia supports Serbia’s European integration. He said that his country has initiated preparations within the European Commission for an opinion on Serbia's bid for EU candidacy. Slovenia supports Serbia's European path After his meeting with his Serbian counterpart, Parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, in Ljubljana, Gantar told reporters that the start of the process within the European Commission is expected in the fall. He also said that Serbia would be invited to take part in the COSAC (the Conference of the committees of the national parliaments of the European Union member-states) conference in the capacity of an observer country, in order to get informed about the process of lawmaking in the EU in time. According to Gantar, Slovenia supports Serbia on its European path because it believes that it is of exceptional and vital importance to have the Western Balkans join the European family of nations. Djukic-Dejanovic pointed out the importance of cooperation between the two parliaments, adding that there are a number of mutual topics that are important not only for the development of the relations between the two countries, but also between the citizens of both states.

After his meeting with his Serbian counterpart, Parliament Speaker Slavica Đukić-Dejanović, in Ljubljana, Gantar told reporters that the start of the process within the European Commission is expected in the fall.
