Opposition DSS party leader Vojislav Kostunica says that Brussels does not see Serbia as its partner. The former Serbian prime minister said the case of Kosovo testified to that claim, and added the EU instead viewed the country "as a territory that can be violently redrawn". DSS leader unhappy with EU "The manner in which the EU is treating Serbia, and the statement made in Belgrade that Serbia's border has been violently changed and that this is a reality that must be accepted, represents an essential endangering of our state interests and crude disdain for the state of Serbia," said Kostunica. He also stated that "taking territories has never been a normal base for equal relations among states". "By forcing Serbia to establish good neighborly relations with the fake state of Kosovo, the EU shows that its real goal is not to have Serbia as its member for many years to come. A state that renounces a part of its territory cannot deserve anyone's respect, not even that of the EU, but can only be permanently underestimated and humiliated," the DSS leader asserted. According to him, Serbia's answer should be that no European country has ever given up on its territory under pressure, or recognized a violent change of its borders. "The rule that applies to all European countries must apply to Serbia as well," concluded Kostunica.
