I believe that Mr. Kostunica is one of the few Serb politicians who really has a soul.
I know for a fact that he annoys 'the west' and that's because he has Serbia's interests at heart and he cares about his people and country.
For goodness sake, why can't the people of Serbia recognise this and put him back into government.
I also hope the next election will be free of outside (EU/US) interference.

Serbs are so desperate for their country to be allowed entry into the European Union that many are completely fooled by their government. It seems obvious that Tadic and DS have always planned to trade Kosovo for the EU, even if they speak to the contrary. Kostunica seems to recognize this truth but no one listens to him anymore. The EU, NATO, and US are "raping" Serbia and few complain. One must suppose that Serbs are not smart enough to realize that it was NATO, a US/EU construct if ever there was one, who bombed Serbia not so long ago. The EU won't allow Muslim Turkey entry into its midst yet tears Serbia apart to hasten Muslim Kosovo and Albanias entry to that organization. If ever there was an affront to Serb dignity this is it. To bad Serbs cannot see this truth. Perhaps Westerwelle was the perfect 'courier' for this message to keep Serbia on its knees! I am an American and I see this reality. I don't undertand how Serbs cannot.

The rule that applies to all European countries must apply to Serbia as well," concluded Koštunica.
This is why I like this guy so much, because of these statements that the EU must hate to hear, because they are so true and expose their anti-Serb double standards.
(Dragan, 27 August 2010 21:28)

Yes, but Serbia can’t pick the rules it likes and say that they apply to both Europe and Serbia, and forget the rest of the rules which apparently apply to Europe only, and not Serbia. It’s either all or nothing.

Serbia chose to disregard the rules in the 1990s, so I don’t see why others should have respected the rules with Serbia.

Sorry, but not your choice to make.

If your so-called "Kosovo" is independant then why worry so much about Serbian politics? IF it is true according to you of the benefits the EU has to offer Serbia, you should be more than happy about this news, considering your anti-Serbian rants/views.

REALITY CHECK; "Kosovo" isn't going anywhere without Serbia's approval, whether you, US or EU like it or not.

Your only option for any type of "self-reliance" in economics/industry/infrastructure/social benefits is to move along with the recognition of the FACT that you are indeed apart of Serbia and that you're in fact a Serbian citizen with Albanian ethnicity.

Unfortunately for most Serbian citizens with Albanian ethnicity, they will have a hard time capturing this present/past and future reality, but with awareness and humbleness towards your own people this can be done.

So if you have any EU/UN prospects, it is time to really think forward, so we can all move along from the mess the Serbian-albanos in Serbia's southern province have created.
(trudsaam, 27 August 2010 18:20)

Really! It's not the choice of 2 million albanians to make but has to be your choice although probably you are at least 5 miles away from Kosovo.
Serbia is going nowhere without recognizing Kosovo.

"The manner in which the EU is treating Serbia, and the statement made in Belgrade that Serbia's border has been violently changed and that this is a reality that must be accepted, represents an essential endangering of our state interests and crude disdain for the state of Serbia," said Koštunica.

The terrible lesson(for serbia at least) that brussels has learned is that the more bombs you drop on serbia, the more injustice you pile on top of it, the more complient serbia will become to the perpetrators of these crimes. This is a horrific lesson because it will be the youngest generation of serbs in the future who will have to bleed in order to dissuade the west of this false notion.

EU instead viewed the country "as a territory that can be violently redrawn". That is a comment from Kostunica.

This guy has never lived in the real world. He just talks rhetorics that noone wants to listen. When he was Prime Minister he DID NOTHING to re-instate Serbia territory integrity over Kosovo. And now he wants to play the hero and the clever polititian.

Although Kostunica's statements are appealing to many "hardcore" diaspora Serbs, the real choice for Serbia is enter EU now without Kosova or enter EU in 20 years without Kosova.

If (assuming i was otherwize a sane person)i ruined your life, bombed you and killed your relatives, of course i wouldn´t see you as "a partner".

I would see you as an obedient subordinate not worth much of my attention as long as you stick to your position, if not i might blackmail threaten or bomb you again to get you back there. If you find REAL friends however, and powerful ones at that, things would change dramaticly...
