New Serbia (NS) leader Velimir Ilic is recovering at home after being attacked in downtown Belgrade on Friday. NS deputy leader Dubravka Filipovski said that Ilic will be under the constant supervision of doctors for the next several days after being released from the hospital. Attacked NS leader recovering at home The party stated that it is waiting for a report from the Interior Ministry, prosecution, and the parliamentary security committee, which is expected to meet on Tuesday. “The most important thing at this moment is the health of our president and receiving the reports from the state institutions,” Filipovski said. Ilic was attacked in Belgrade’s main pedestrian zone of Knez Mihailova street by Dejan Stojadinovic while he was giving a statement to reporters regarding the party’s initiative for the signing of a petition for emergency elections to be held in Serbia. Police arrested the attacker and are continuing the investigation. All of Serbia’s political parties have condemned the attack on the NS leader.
