Kosovo Albanian leaders have continued consultations with international representatives over an announced MUP-EULEX cooperation protocol. This is according to an article in today's Albanian language daily Koha Ditore, that also said International Civilian Representative Pieter Feith met on Friday with Kosovo Albanian President Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, while another meeting has been scheduled for Monday. K. Albanians in protocol consultations According to the newspaper's sources, they discussed the contents of the protocol, "but also did not leave out the political consequences of the announced cooperation between EULEX and Serbia in the police, customs and judiciary areas". EULEX chief Yves de Kermabon did not attend, "because of the political nature of the consultations". The daily quotes international representatives who said that EULEX is viewed as a technical mission, while "in situations of political engagement" its interests are represented by EU's special representative in Kosovo – Pieter Feith. According to the article, the Dutch diplomat on Friday reminded the Kosovo Albanian leaders "of the support that EU countries gave to the protocol". Meantime, "high Kosovo government officials admit that the goings-on regarding the protocol had brought Pristina to a stalemate". On the one hand, Kosovo Albanian leaders "are finding it difficult to backtrack on their grandstanding as they rejected the protocol", while on the other, they are "finding it even harder to stand up to the pressure from high European mechanisms that seek their support for the signing of the protocol", the daily's sources were quoted. The newspaper also claims that this subject was on the agenda of an informal EU meeting this weekend in Stockholm, Sweden.
