SPS official Zarko Obradovic believes that the DS and LDP will reach an agreement to form a government in Belgrade. Asked whether he would be prepared to concede the position of city assembly speaker to the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) official told daily Vecernje Novosti that there had been no talk of personal solutions yet, and that the Democratic Party and the SPS had already agreed on the principles for forming the city government. SPS confident of DS-LDP agreement “Even if such demands existed, the DS would sort that out with the LDP, because we haven’t negotiated on any personnel issues,” he said. Obradovic added that the SPS and DS leaders would agree on a date for signing the declaration on reconciliation, and that the document would definitely be signed, adding that it was a positive step for Serbia. Asked whether there was anything in that document about the rehabilitation of the Milosevic family, Obradovic said that “no one is named personally,” and that he did not know where that information had come from. “That is a document on the principles of cooperation, future relations between the DS and SPS, and the values that they represent together in building an economically strong, socially just and integral Serbia within the EU. We will close the book on the past and turn towards the future,” he said. Commenting on G17 Plus and the Serbian Renewal Movement’s refusal to reconcile with the SPS, Obradovic said that “that is their view of the past and the future, and it also contains an element of political marketing.”
