Đelić to visit European institutions

“We are going to see some commissioners that lead the European Commission, not only the ones that deal with us, but also the those responsible for science, internal affairs."

He also added he would be meeting with Vice-President Commissioner Franco Frattini, because it will be up to him to decide "whether or not our country will be on the Schengen white list.”

“We also are going to tell Frattini about our plan of getting on the Schengen white list within the next two years. We will have meetings with parliamentary officials, because that is where EU legislation is created,” Đelić said.

During the first day of his visit, Đelić will travel to Luxembourg for a Council of Europe, where we will hold talks with the Internal Affairs Ministers of France, Italy, Slovenia and Portugal.

Đelić announced that he would present to them Serbia’s European plan and ask for their support in three sectors.

“We wish to receive candidate status by the end of 2008, which is very ambitious, we want to announce projects in our country that will enable us to receive significantly larger financial assets and, in the end, present our plan for getting on the Schengen white list, which is probably the most ambitious plan of all. In three days there will be more than 40 meetings, it will be a very rich program,” Đelić said.
