Regional leaders meet in Macedonia

Macedonian resident will host the summit entitled "Long-Term Energy Stability - Precondition for Economic Development".

Presidents of Albania, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and the President of the Bosnia-Herzegovina presidency, will take part at the event, the working part of which will begin Friday.

Due to a busy schedule of the Bulgarian president, his deputy will attend in Ohrid, while the Romanian president canceled the visit several days ago.

The Ohrid Summit is the third in the series, after the those held in Drač and Karađorđevo.

It is the first highest-level political summit in the region dedicated to regional issues, members of Macedonia’s presidential cabinet told journalists in Skopje.

The necessity to elaborate a joint strategy for long-term energy stability gains importance in the context of international community's efforts to promote different forms of improved energy efficiency as prerequisite for economic growth and environment protection, it was said at the press briefing.

The attendants of the Ohrid Summit are expected to come up with joint final declaration, as well as hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event.
