“Investors held back from investing in Serbia at that time, and numerous privatizations were halted,” Matić said.

According to her, foreign investments in Serbia’s economy have amounted to EUR 300mn since the beginning of 2007.

“Following the formation of the new government, investors’ interest in Serbia is again on the rise, as none of them have yet backed out,” she said.
Matić added that the Decree on Encouraging Direct Foreign Investments adopted a year ago provided foreign investors with state-sponsored grants of at least EUR 2,000 per each new employee.

“The Decree applies to investors who launch new production units and create new jobs. The state has so far granted EUR 10.2mn to the investors that opened 5,000 new jobs,” she said.
