NGO: Stojanovic played key role in "Operation Reka"

Stojanovic told B92 states that the Fund relies upon the statement of only one witness, who has changed it "under pressure because he was a member of the Serbian (sic) Army during the war."

He also recalled that he testified about that in The Hague as a defense witness in the trials of generals Vladimir Lazarevic and Vlastimir Djordjevic.

"Anyone who has any knowledge of the rules regulate the work of security organs in the military knows that as chief of security of the (Yugoslav Army, VS) Pristina Corps, I could not participate in the planning, organizing and commanding of combat activities, nor have I, as chief of security during combat operations in Kosovo, commanded a single soldier - so the command responsibility is out. I can only be responsible if I personally, with weapon in hand, went into Albanian houses, expelled, abused the population, which is hard to believe," said Stojanović.

At least 350 Albanian civilians were killed during Operation Reka, and thousands of them were deported to Albania. The remains of 309 victims were exhumed from a mass grave in Batajnica in 2001 and 2002.

The prosecution did not make available the details of the case. Otherwise, this case was also dealt with by EULEX that in 2013 identified nearly 20 suspects.
