EUR 148,000 in cash found hidden in passengers' underwear

Serbian customs officers have found and confiscated EUR 148,000 from two foreign nationals leaving Serbia via the Gradina border crossing.

The crossing is located on the border between Serbia and Bulgaria. However, when officers searched the two men, their luggage and vehicle, they discovered that one carried EUR 66,000 more, while the other had another EUR 82,000. The cash was hidden in their underwear, the statement said. Each have been given back EUR 10,000, which they are allowed to take out of the country, while the remaining EUR 148,000 has been temporarily confiscated, pending the outcome of a court procedure.
