A Molotov cocktail has been thrown into the courtyard of Kosovo government HQ during a protest by "war veterans". Kosovo police spokesman Besim Hoti told Beta that the resulting blaze had immediately been extinguished without any consequences. Molotov cocktail lobbed at Kosovo govt. The protesters, veterans of the insurgency in Kosovo in the late Nineties, are demanding rights due them under Kosovo law. Yesterday, they blocked Pristina’s central thoroughfare, Agim Ramadani Street, while today they congregated on Mother Teresa Square, opposite the government and provincial assembly buildings. “We are demanding our conditions be met, the same ones as all soldiers in other countries of the world have,” organization member Veselj Aruqi told electronic media in Pristina. Aruqi said that the veterans were demanding the application of a law adopted exactly ten years ago, and announced that protests would not stop until their demands were met. “The government should take our demands seriously and address them,” he added. Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuqi said that the government had done what it realistically could to meet the veterans’ demands, but acknowledged that more could have been done.
