The leader of a Serbian neo-Nazi organization, due to serve a prison term in Sombor, claims he is residing in Trieste legally and that he intends to stay there. Goran Davidovic was sentenced to one year in prison in Belgrade on charges of inciting ethnic, racial and religious hatred, and Serbia has asked Italy for his extradition. Davidovic was convicted of orchestrating an incident that took place in late 2005, when a group of neo-Nazis disrupted an anti-fascist tribune at the Philosophy Faculty in Novi Sad, verbally and physically attacking the participants. The Nacinalni Stroj leader verbally abused Professor Milenko Perovic, a speaker at the event, on ethnic grounds.

“My expectations are that Italy is a civilized state, so that nothing will come of it. I’m not hiding, I’m living in Trieste legally, with an Italian identity card,” the Nacionalni Stroj (tr. National Formation) leader told Radio Free Europe.

He claimed that he had been convicted in Serbia “of a crime that didn’t happen” – namely, that he had been convicted of a "verbal delict."

Davidović was convicted of orchestrating an incident that took place in late 2005, when a group of neo-Nazis disrupted an anti-fascist tribune at the Philosophy Faculty in Novi Sad, verbally and physically attacking the participants.
