To mark the 16th anniversary of the crimes in Strpci, the LDP has called on state institutions to establish all the circumstances of the tragedy there. In a statement, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) reiterates that so many years on from the abduction of passengers on a Belgrade-Bar train on February 27, 1993, when members of paramilitary units murdered 20 innocent civilians, the perpetrators have still to be brought to justice. Anniversary of Strpci massacre The party condemns the lack of will, both of the state and the judiciary, to conduct a full investigation into the case, and demands that “the whole truth as to the role and involvement of former senior government officials be uncovered.” According to the statement, the authorities’ involvement can be seen from the evidence put forward in the trial of Nebojsa Ranisavljevic, one of the perpetrators. The LDP states that other perpetrators are still at large and that the whereabouts of the remains of the victims are still unknown. The party believes that the victims’ families deserve just and substantial compensation, and that the tragedy should become the care and responsibility of the state, the statement concludes.
