Talks on export of Fiats to Russia postponed

Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic told the paper that Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak has postponed his visit, planned for early May. Novak will determine a new date for the trip, Dacic explained.

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission is yet to discuss the duty-free trade list, and it remains unknown if the Fiat cars made in Kragujevac will be included.

Serbia has on several occasions attempted to secure duty-free exports of these cars to Russia, as part of the free trade agreement between the two countries, while it was expected that a decision on the quota would be made in mid-April.

During negotiations on this subject held in 2013 the figure of 10,000 cars was mentioned. According to the paper, after his October 2014 visit to Serbia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that "agreement on some quotas was possible."
