BELGRADE A plenary meeting of a Serbian delegation and a visiting mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) opened the talks in Belgrade on Monday. The meeting included IMF mission members and representatives of the Serbian government and the National Bank of Serbia (NBS). which will take place between Monday and September 14, the central bank said in a release. The IMF mission will present its views and recommendations in a written statement for the media at the end of the visit. According to a statement by IMF Resident Representative in Serbia Bogdan Lissovolik ahead of the start of the talks, the mission will also discuss the IMF's concerns about the recent changes to the National Bank of Serbia law that undermined its autonomy, and about the fiscal situation. According to an earlier statement by Vlajko Senic, a state secretary with the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the IMF mission is tasked with analyzing the state of public finances, while technical talks with IMF representatives took place in late August and early September.
