Serbian, Korean companies "ready for cooperation"

Serbia and Korea signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting commercial, trade, industrial and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Serbia and Korea signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting commercial, trade, industrial and investment cooperation between the two countries. The document was signed by Director of the Serbia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) Bozidar Laganin and Chairman of the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) Jutae Lee. Serbian, Korean companies "ready for cooperation" Serbian Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric, who attended the signing assessed that the memorandum will enable 100 South Korean companies to visit Serbia in late 2012 or early 2013, with the idea of establishing cooperation with the Serbian companies and enabling them to export to South Korea. Our export to South Korea is very low and totals from EUR 1-1.5 million, Ciric recalled. Laganin pointed out that the signing of the memorandum will institutionalize the cooperation between these two organizations. The KOIMA Chairman underlined that the Korean companies are interested in cooperation with their colleagues in Serbia. He said that KOIMA is the association of South Korean importers which was established 41 years ago and now gathers over 8,500 companies. Serbia is the first country in the Western Balkan region with which the Republic of Korea has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, and the practice has so far shown that the signing of this document leads to the improvement of economic and trade cooperation between two countries. SIEPA has a long-standing cooperation with foreign partnership organizations which enables exchange of information, finding direct business contacts for the Serbian companies and rise in export. Serbian Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ćirić, who attended the signing assessed that the memorandum will enable 100 South Korean companies to visit Serbia in late 2012 or early 2013, with the idea of establishing cooperation with the Serbian companies and enabling them to export to South Korea.

Our export to South Korea is very low and totals from EUR 1-1.5 million, Ćirić recalled.

Laganin pointed out that the signing of the memorandum will institutionalize the cooperation between these two organizations.
