The Serbian government adopted a conclusion on Thursday regarding the report on the landline operator license tender. The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society confirmed for Tanjug that the government had accepted the offer by Telenor, worth EUR 1,050,000. RATEL accepts Telenor landline offer On Friday, the Republic Telecommunication Agency (RATEL) followed suit and decided to grant the license to the company. According to previous reports, as the national institution in charge of telecommunications, RATEL was also supposed to set the price for Telenor to rent its infrastructure. Telenor, which is expected to be given the license in February, has to begin providing landline phone and ADSL services to the population within a year. Telenor submitted the only offer for a landline provider license, which will make it the second service provider in that field and end the current monopoly held by Telekom Srbija. The Norwegian company is already present in the market as one of Serbia’s three mobile operators. The license is granted for a period of 10 years with the option of extending it by another 10.

On Friday, the Republic Telecommunication Agency (RATEL) followed suit and decided to grant the license to the company.

According to previous reports, as the national institution in charge of telecommunications, RATEL was also supposed to set the price for Telenor to rent its infrastructure.

Telenor, which is expected to be given the license in February, has to begin providing landline phone and ADSL services to the population within a year.

Telenor submitted the only offer for a landline provider license, which will make it the second service provider in that field and end the current monopoly held by Telekom Srbija.

The Norwegian company is already present in the market as one of Serbia’s three mobile operators.

The license is granted for a period of 10 years with the option of extending it by another 10.
