The National Investment Plan Ministry has set aside RSD 2bn for the “infrastructure development in the 40 most under-development municipalities” program. The decisions on the projects that will be financed will be submitted to the government by February 1. Aid set aside for under-developed municipalities The most impoverished municipalities have registered a total of 405 projects worth a total of RSD 9.43bn, and 396 meet the criteria for financing, according to the Ministry’s website. Last year, of the 148 approved projects, 80 were completely finished in nine months, while 31 projects were more than halfway finished. The NIP Ministry organized a series of training courses last year for more than 80 officials of the most impoverished municipalities, offering expert support for developing municipal capacities and administering the projects. Within the project in 2009, 43 kilometers of local highways and roads were constructed, along with one bridge, more than 48 kilometers of water pipelines and canal networks, five reservoirs for water at markets, a collector for waste waters, a well for water supplies, and a waste management facility. Nine schools were built or renovated, including a preschool and gymnasium, and six sports fields and courts were opened. Bujanovac was the municipality that received the most money in 2009—RSD 67mn.
