Agriculture Minister Sasa Dragin said that entering 2010, his ministry has no debt, a greater budget, and all subsidies paid. He told daily Vecernje novosti that primary agricultural production was hurt most by the crisis. Minister has high hopes for agriculture “The Ministry tried to establish dialogue between the producers and the farmers, in order for the effects of the crisis to be balanced equally,” Dragin said. “Despite the small budget, we worked on increasing income from farming, paying subsidies in a time when money was most necessary for farmers, increasing competition, developING a network of advisory services, and we passed 15 laws,” he said. Asked whether enough money was set aside for agriculture this year, Dragin said that he "cannot be completely satisfied.” “But, I must admit that the Finance Ministry invested maximum efforts to give us all possible funds,” he added.
