International bio-technology company Altech has presented a project for building a biorefinery in Vojvodina. President of the Altech Biotechnology Company Piers Laience said that the project for producing bio-ethanol would be carried out in the small town of Senta. Biorefinery to be built in Vojvodina At a meeting with the President of the Vojvodina Executive Committee and Environment Minister Sasa Dragin, Laience said that 70 percent of the bioethanol would be produced from corn and 30 percent from cellulose. He added that the factory would be equipped with technology hitherto unseen in Europe. Dragin said that Serbia was preparing investment relaxations for “green technologies” which would protect the environment and encourage development.
