Lenard, Biodiesel uses Corn, not wheat.

The high corn prices have made food expensive in Mexico, but corn is the main staple of their diet. Most Serbian corn seems to be for feeding cattle not people. Have you ever tried to eat their corn for cattle? Its crazy tough. Cattle prices will certainly go up, but that might actually have a good effect on pork farmers.

Its time for Serbs to convert those old Mercedes to biodiesel!!!!!

I cant say the Serbian government dose not want to cause a big panic in the people or hoarding of a basic food item for millions of people. Lets just hope that the next harvest will be more abundant then the last one.

Lenard says..."Already Serbia is suffering a wheat shortage and prices are going up."

Serbia's agriculture minister reported just last month and printed on B92 (12/25/07) that Serbia has sufficient wheat to cover the country's needs until the 2009 harvest.

Where did you get your information Lenard?

I know Mike and your absolutly right. Voivodina also has a rich history and the ability to lead Serbia economicly to a bright future. And one day I may retire there, or at least a summer retreat.

"Kosovo is Serbia's rich history but Voivodina is Serbia's bright future."

I couldn't agree more with you, Delije. Though I might add that Vojvodina has a rich amount of Serbian history and culture that has, to date, been largely ignored by both historian and layman.

That will only drive the price of food up whether for the people or animals. Already Serbia is suffering a wheat shortage and prices are going up. Most of the fuel will go to EU countries corn is much cheaper in Serbia than in the EU bad deal only poor people will suffer and their health how are on budgets.

Now thats what I'm talking about! Kosovo is Serbia's rich history but Voivodina is Serbia's bright future. Good for them to get this investment.
