The Serbian Refugee and Migration Commissariat says that more that 5,500 migrants have been housed in reception centers in Serbia.

A day earlier, the Commissariat voiced concern over there being "no end in sight" to the migrant crisis, the migration route being only conditionally closed and that Europe seemed to be even farther from a concerted response than when the crisis began."Serbia is investing the utmost effort to look after the migrants while they stay in its territory, at the same time taking care of the security and interests of its citizens," a press release reads.
The Commissariat anticipates next year "with great concern" as the funds that have been provided are insufficient to cover the migrants' basic needs.
"We hope that the international community will be understanding and supportive of Serbia in its efforts to give the migrants everything that belongs to them according to international standards," the Commissariat said in the statement, recalling that migrants staying in the country did not wish to remain here, which made the situation additionally difficult.
