Hague fugitive Radovan Karadzic’s nephew is to file charges against the Montenegrin police. Dragan Karadzic said that the charges would be filed for “unruly conduct” during the search of his home in Niksic two days ago. Karadzic’s nephew to file charges Karadzic told Podgorica daily Dan that the police search had lasted “almost three hours,” and that three of his friends had been “tied up” the entire time, “like the worst criminals.” He said that the police had had a search warrant for his home because he was suspected of selling drugs, but that when he had been taken in for questioning by the Podgorica police, “they only wanted to hear about Radovan Karadzic.” “I told them for the umpteenth time to not ask me any more, and they kept on,” Karadzic said. The Podgorica police searched his home on March 31 “on suspicion that the house had items and traces linked to the illegal production, possession and sale of controlled substances,” according to a police statement. The police stated that there was “a realistic possibility” that the items and evidence had been in the process of being destroyed, and that the police had had to break down the door. According to the statement, the police had found and “seized certain articles” during the search of Karadzic’s home.
